Should I do L102 or L112? Which would be best for my level of French?

If you are a complete beginner – meaning that you have not studied any or only a little French before – there is no need to do this self-assessment and you should register on L102.

If you have some knowledge or experience of French, then we recommend that you take this self-assessment quiz to make sure you enrol on the module that is right for you.

Bear in mind that while L102 is a beginners' course, it brings you up to the level of grammar points such as combining the use of past tenses, using the future tense, making comparisons, giving advice, using the imperative, using a variety of pronouns and using en; and being able to express yourself in contexts such as talking about careers and studies, ordering goods online, negotiating in shops, talking about illnesses and injuries, and more.

The questions in this quiz are at the level of French assumed at the start of L112 French studies 1 (Intermediate).To feel confident of being ready to study L112, you need to achieve a score of 80% or above.
